"Unrestrained" - an aerial acrobatics short film

Danae Maltezou is an incredibly talented and dedicated young aerial performer who I had the good fortune of meeting during the Nefelopetra Aqua performance.

We later cooperated in the “Suspended Grace” photoshoot, an experience that solidified my opinion that Danae is not only an excellent athlete and artist but also a great, fun human being. It follows that it was my pleasure to work with her again in this aerial performance short film.

PurgARTorium: conclusion and photo-book announcement

t’s time to wrap-up the beautiful project I shot with the AcrOdance team, and which was introduced in a previous post.

Once again it was a great pleasure working with highly professional, imaginative and motivated people. Rest assured that this is not the last you see from such collaboration.

This is the full gallery for the project, and you can also check the gallery page.

Nefelopetra: "Aqua"

A few days ago, I had the great pleasure to shoot at an exciting performance, expertly comprising elements of dance, aerial acrobatics, live music and audio-visual feeds, all carried out by a very talented team of artists.

The group in question is called “Nefelopetra” (which is, of course, Greek, and could be translated as “Cloudstone”), and was formed in 2009 by Nefeli Markaki and Petros Politis. At this point I will let their own words describe the modus operandi:

Portraits of a Troupe: Introducing PurgARTorium with AcrOdance

This is the first part from a project I did a few weeks ago, with the extremely talented team from Acrodance.

Acrodance  by Anna Omiridi is a brilliant combination of acrobatics and creative dance. Acrobatic routines are integrated seamlessly into choreographies with emphasis on guided improvisation. The main concept of this approach is that movement and exercise, as creative expressions, hold a significant role in human lives and help in structuring positive self-awareness and knowledge of oneself. Thus strengthening your body and building your muscles will allow you to experience mental uplift.

A pole-dancing shooting

Pole dancing has emerged, during the last decade or so, as a very popular fitness trend, slowly but surely washing away the stigma of night and strip club connection. A growing number of young -and not so young- women, and, in recent times, also men, choose it as their favorite fitness pursuit. Thus, it is not peculiar that, as a modern sport, "vertical dance" as it is sometimes called, is even considered as a full Olympics event.
